VILLAGE DIRECTOR
HEIDI WHITEHEAD
(SHE/HER/HERS)
Heidi has built her career around caring for children and families as an educator, community builder, mentor and leader –always pushing the envelope with innovative models that are responsive to the needs of the communities they serve. Her passion for creating systems of mutual benefit and communal caretaking (especially in multi-age and intergenerational settings) took root in her K-8 teaching career and blossomed in the preschool she founded and ran for the past decade. She also loves helping women live into their gifts. In her spare time, this mom of three enjoys gardening, reading, camping, SUP, cross-country skiing, live music and dancing.
CHILDCARE MANAGER
TAYLOR BROWN
(SHE/HER/HERS)
Taylor's enthusiasm for and expertise in caring for kids developed across a wide variety of settings, from in-home and traditional daycares, nannying and summer camps to youth and family ministries and behavioral health for kids with autism. She holds dual roles as the Family Village Childcare Manager and Co-Director of the Youth and Family Ministry at Denver Unity Spiritual Center. As a single mother of two and natural change-maker, she is devoted to disrupting generational and cultural patterns & loves being able to bring her kids to work as part of that. She is also the published author of a poetry collection and is a gifted spiritual advisor.
CHILDCARE ASSISTANT
ALISON MELARA
(SHE/HER/HERS)
Alison joins the Family Village childcare team as a graduate of the Florence Crittenton School for Girls. Through her experience as a teen mother, she became an incredibly resourceful self-advocate. She is acutely aware of the difficulties many parents face and the importance of cultivating community connections and strong support systems. She helps families navigate the transition into childcare with compassion and patience. As a bilingual speaker, she can frequently be heard speaking in Spanish, helping kids and adults alike bridge language gaps. She is also a passionate and creative entrepreneur who loves creating digital content and fashion.
